Symptoms of Malaria

A malarial attack lasts hours, you get headaches, fevers, muscle pain, and nausea. The attacks come in a pattern. Plasmodia falciparum, Plasmodia vivax, and Plasmodia ovale cause malaria attacks about every 2 days. Plasmodia malaria's attacks return about every 3 days. Between attacks, the infected person usually feels better but is often weak. The most serious disease is caused by Plasmodia falciparum. The person with Plasmodia falciparum becomes weaker with each attack, and many die if untreated.

Plasmodia vivax,
Plasmodia malaria
and Plasmodia ovale are not related with severe illness. Malaria may go away without treatment, but symptoms may return after a long period of time.
